7B - Brandon
Welcome to King Edward VI Aston, and a special welcome to Brandon House! Brandon is named after the fourth headmaster of Aston, Leonard G Brandon, who served from 1937 to 1970, a remarkable 33 years. As a member of Brandon house, you’ll have the opportunity to compete in a variety of events, ranging from sports to academic challenges, against the other four houses. With something for everyone, let’s show our house pride and aim for some trophies!
My name is Miss Whitehead, and I will be your form tutor next year. Every morning during form period and registration, we will start the day together with school notices and various activities. I will be checking your planners, achievements and behaviour points, ensuring you are getting on with school to the best of your abilities. As your form tutor, I am here to support you with anything you need, whether that is answering any questions you have or listening to your interesting weekend stories.
Moving from primary to secondary school, and particularly to a grammar school, can feel daunting. However, as your form tutor, and together with the support from your Head of Year, Mrs Ologunde, and Pastoral Lead, Mrs Blundell, we are here to help you navigate these changes and support you with any concerns or difficulties you may have. This year, you will see many changes, including new teachers, friends, and routines. However, these changes also bring new opportunities, such as joining extra-curricular clubs like sports teams, 3D printing, photography, and more.
To make the most of your time here at Aston, strive to do your best and get involved. We have high expectations for our students in terms of organisation, hard work, and excellent behaviour. By consistently working to the best of your ability and creating good habits early on, you will be able to reach your full potential.
I look forward to seeing you in September!
