7M - Manton

Welcome to Manton House!

7M Form Tutor Mr Mackie

Dear New Year 7 Student,

It is my pleasure to welcome you to this school and Manton house in particular. You can be justifiably pleased with your achievement in earning a place at this school. We hope very much that you enjoy your time here. We are a school that rewards hard work, challenges you to push yourself beyond what expectations you may have and will support you through difficult times.

As a form tutor, I will act as a first point of contact with the school. I will be in registration every morning. I will be checking your homework planners every week to make sure you are organised, well-behaved and staying on top of your work. I will help you out with any concerns or fears.

As a Year 7 team we are proactive. We genuinely care about removing any barriers to your achievement at this school. At secondary school level, getting into a routine is never more important. You will have more homework and classes than ever before. Managing your workload will probably be the biggest challenge in this and future years. It is, however, achievable.

Though we are clearly an academic school, we are not an ‘exam factory’. We believe that our pupils should be well-rounded individuals and offer many opportunities for students to express themselves. If you take these chances, you could develop into a talented sportsman, musician, artist, photographer or actor. We offer many school sports teams but also the chance to play sport for our house competitions. There are also many extracurricular clubs and societies offered by the school: these include debating, humanities film club, anime club, quiz club and many more.

In joining Manton, you are joining a House which is competitive in both sporting competitions and non-sporting competitions, and is renowned for having a strong house spirit.

I look forward to seeing you in September and welcoming you to King Edward Aston VI.

Yours sincerely,

Mr Mackie
