Welcome to Computing at King Edward VI Aston School. 

In Year 7 you will have two computer science lessons each fortnight. This will increase to three lessons in Years 8 and 9 and then five lessons if you choose GCSE Computer Science as one of your option subjects. 

In Year 7 Computing we focus on getting students familiar with our IT systems. We spend time using software that will be used in all subjects throughout your time at the school. These include Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Teams and Outlook. 

We will look at how to stay safe and keep your data secure when using a computer. This will include using strong passwords and being able to spot phishing emails. 

After that we will use a block-based coding language to program games. 

In the later years we will look at how computers work, how they can be networked together, creating websites and using text based programming languages.
